This is my interview with Zeena Altalib owner of Primo Moda...

MF: Assalamu Alaykum,

Zeena Altalib: Wa Alaykum Salaam, Thank you for your interview questions.

MF: Your store has a fun modern feel with a great selection for all to enjoy. PrimoModa stands out for itself how did you go about picking the name for your store.

Zeena Altalib: Since Primo Moda’s mission is to spread modesty everywhere, I wanted a name that is universal and representative of the line. I researched a lot of names and the industry and finally settled on Primo Moda which is representative of premier and fashionable styles.

MF: When did PrimoModa start out?

Zeena Altalib: Primo Moda started at the beginning of 2005 when it started to become more and more apparent the gap of modest stylish clothing in the mainstream market.

MF: Did you always know you wanted to be in the fashion industry?

Zeena Altalib: As a matter of fact, yes I did! I loved fashion since I was a little girl. I used to sew clothes for my dolls and later for myself. I wanted to major in Fashion Design but it was not feasible for me to be away from home at that time. SubhanAllah the opportunity presented itself at the right time and PrimoModa.com was born.

MF: From your variety of your clothing on your site, starting with the professional in mind all the way to your active swim and sports wear do you personally relate to wearing these items in your day to day life.

Zeena Altalib: Absolutely, my objective was to fill the gap and provide women with all the clothing varieties they need to participate in everyday life while dressing modestly, looking stylish and feeling comfortable.
I worked in corporate America realized a need for professional, modest clothing.
I love water, going to the beach and participating in water sports and I couldn’t just do it with make shift uncomfortable options.
I am also a mother and want to participate in my kids activities, hikes and sporting events.
Communicating with other women also gives me insights on what they are looking for to add to their closet!


MF: Dose Primo Moda Design its own clothes?

Zeena Altalib: A new line will be launched soon which is exclusively designed by Primo Moda. The line consists on yet another need that women are looking for. A casual/sporty line which includes Long Sleeve Shirts, Polo Style Tops, Sweatshirts and more. Stay tuned….

MF: We will look forward too seeing what you come up with, Insh'Allah. How do you go about choosing your clothing line and where do they come from?

Zeena Altalib: Our collection comes from top designers in the modest clothing world. We carry brand names such as Tekbir, Serpil, Aker, Hasema and Acquagym. We only choose high quality and functional products to satisfy our customers’ needs and to present a well put together modest image.

MF: Do you have a store location or do you plain in the future to open one?

Zeena Altalib: At this point in time, I would like to concentrate on an Online store only and presence at events and expositions. Primo Moda’s goal is to become a label that can be sold in the mainstream market in order to fulfill our mission of spreading modesty everywhere regardless of faith. Through this, I believe, the objective of modesty as a whole will be achieved.

MF: Your sport and swim wear are the most stylish selections I have seen. Do you think Muslimas are swimming or sporting more?

Zeena Altalib: I know for a fact that they are based on the emails and responses I receive from all over the world. Women are telling us that they are finally able to swim with their families instead of watching them in the sidelines. Others started swimming again after they had stopped for 20 years since deciding to dress modestly or wear the hijab. With our sports line, Soccer moms are more comfortable going to their kids games or participating in exercises and walks that will improve their health and lifestyle.

Islamic Outfitters-Review

Last week I decided to take advantage of the Islamic Outfitters 15 for $15 and I bought this Lily in Red Floral tunic. When looking at it online, I wasn't sure if I liked the pattern completely. Although when I saw it in person, it was very nice. The shipment was fast and the quality is good the fabric is a light cotton none see-through. Looks great with a plain hijab.

For the last design this one is called Mosaic in Sage Stripe the striped fabric along with the paisley embroidery accented with beads and sequins. The small detail's and unique fabric truly make these designs one of a kind.

What to do with those:) TUNIC SWIM SUIT COVER UPS!!!

I have this great Idea for you of how you can use those swim suit cover ups. But first let me share my story...

I am a member of an all lady's gym called Lady of America. So your thinking oh that is cool all Lady's go to your gym so you can work out without all the cover up. Wrong!! The owner of the gym is a man...."what"....I know I said the same thing too when I joined. Oh! did I mention he is a Muslim...I am not talking bad I just want to point out that, we at an all lady's gym have no privacy even other nonmuslims feel the same way. It would be one thing if he just runs the gym and lets a female work up front. But he dose, so he will go in and out of the gym to show it to lady's who are interested. So that means that when we are in that awkward position on the floor doing our stretches, he will walk by:( So I have made a petition for all the lady's to sign and I hope it makes an impact for him to not come inside the gym.

Back to my idea for the TUNIC SWIMSUIT COVER UPS! At first I would try different things and sometimes I would just go in with hijab, long sleeve tee and pants but I really don't feel appropriate, because it is still too tight. When I would wear the swim cover up it was the least hot of all other ideas I had. This is why I want to share this with you...

If you look At the pic, I found this on Amazon it is a Raviya Women's Tunic Cover Up the price is around $24.50. But you can go to Target "that is where I got mine on sale for under $10" or HM has them cheep too. The TUNIC SWIM COVER UP is your best bet because of the fact they are loose and not tight. So how I will wear it is with a thin long sleeve shirt underneath and some workout paints like yoga paints. Note: You will need the long tee because the Swim Tunics can be slightly see through and half sleeve as well.

Oh yeah! BTW I did get a complement from this lady, who thought I got the material from some eastern country. lol it is funny because I am a revert American.
