Hijab Styl'n:The Artizara Style

Here's a hijab style that I spotted on http://www.artizara.com/

What's unique about this hijab style is that it creates the layered look of a perfectly matching undercap (which many of us wear under our rectangular scarves to create that layered look) except it's not an undercap, it's the same scarf!

I tried it out myself and made a few changes to the directions on their website to avoid the risk of showing neck and ear lobes (as you may have noticed occurs on their models).

They say to take a (rectangular) scarf and position it on your head so both ends hang equally at the sides, then to bring the ends to the back of your head (under ponytail) and tie a knot. Then the draping around the head of both ends can begin...

I found this to be problematic because both ends were too short to make a complete wrap around so the back of the head was left sort-0f exposed and funny looking.

So I began with the hijab on my head with one end much longer than the other - like I usually would with a rectangular hijab - and then tied the ends in a knot under my ponytail (tip: use a very low ponytail). Now I had one long end at the back which was long enough to complete an entire wrap-around the head, covering the back completely, and pin on one side.

This was surpisingly comfortable and stylish! Of course the more soft and comfortable the hijab, the more comfortable this will be since there is no undercap. Give it a try!

My Broken Heart

Have you ever had your heart broken by an online store?

I found this wonderful store that I browsed for an hour, http://www.newport-news.com/ ...I found loads of long skirts, long tops, sweaters, and jackets...my head was swimming with modest outfit ideas ....there was a clearance section, even a section with body-shaping clothes - I even picked out matching belts, and then I thought to check the shipping information before I ordered, and it was a bit confusing so I sent an email to check about shipping to Canada, and the reply was like a SLAP in the face.

They don't ship to Canada! "Sorry for the inconvenience"...What?! Are you kidding? We're literally attached! I've never had a store in the U.S. tell me they don't ship here, or any other store for that matter.

hmph....considering the state of the U.S. economy you'ld think they'ld be begging for our business over here.

Anyways, that's the end of my rant! I feel much better now.

I felt that I should be the bigger person and share their link anyways cuz they have some stylish stuff that could totally fit into your modest, muslim, U.S. fashion wardrobe!

Online Source for Tekbir Clothing!

Salam, here's a place to find Tekbir brand online: http://www.modernmuslimahs.co.uk/

They say they sell exclusively Tekbir brand and are the sole distributor of Tekbir brand in the UK.

WOW. How classy is this outfit?! And the price...ouch...this ensemble would cost us North Americans about $300 with shipping, hijab not included!

For that amount of money I'ld be wearing it everyday -even to the grocery store :) What, too fancy for picking out produce? I think not!

Okay, there are less expensive items, but don't expect to pay less than a hundred bucks for an outfit with shipping.

Nice stuff! Beautiful muslimah models too, mashallah!

UPDATE: Good news, for anyone who may have read about the sister mentioned in the comments, she did ultimately receive her refund :)

Unique Hijaby Hats

Salam...

Hey! ...here's something different! I was browsing eBay when I ran across a seller called CJ Hats, who survived cancer and started designing hats for women who had lost their hair.

They apparently also work wonderfully for "women seeking modest headwear, for reasons of religion, alopecia, or just a BAD hair day!"

I'm thinking of giving this beret-style hat below a try (with a long turtle neck or a hijab underneath to cover the neck of course) :

Or how abour this stylish cap either under or over a hijab? :

This one reminded me of a friend I had who had lovely, super-long hair, which was heavy to tie up. This under-cap could accomodate a long ponytail or braid in order to conceal the hair and prevent an itchy back!:

Just throwing some ideas your way!

New Store keeping it "Stylishly Simple"

Salam!

I came across a new Islamic fashion store: aabuk.com that I thought to share with y'all.

As they put it, their line-up is "stylishly simple", and I think in keeping with a more modest Islamic style (long dresses & abayas only).
The clothes seem really comfortable yet still chic. Check it out!
