Favorite summer top so far

The sun is shining today for the first time in weeks and as I frolicked about in my happy summer clothes, I thought to share with you my favorite summer shirt (so far).

I don't know about you, but in the summer, I care more about comfort than ever, so it's all about the thinnest, airiest clothes I find, even if it's not my favorite style.

Alhamdulillah, this one's not only light, it's pretty cute too. This photo right here is my favorite summer shirt, and let me tell you, it is the most light-weight cotton shirt I've ever worn. Surprise surprise, it's from SHUKR, the company which I crown King of cotton muslim clothing.

They have a couple styles made of this same fabric; it's called cotton voile (same fabric my eshakti clothes were made of...sob sob) and is so thin that you should wear either a light undershirt or a skin-colored bra underneath (or else your bra will show). But it's not quite transparent enough to be able to see your skin, unless you choose white I imagine. I wouldn't try that if I was you or else you'll likely have to wear a long-sleeve undershirt underneath.

I DARE YOU to find a lighter shirt than this!

They have many new additions - by the way - that look lovely, but everything I like is priced over $50 so I'm hoping for a sale soon...in time for my trip overseas!

I'm liking this super long shirt-dress with wide pants combo too:

My Online Shopping Crisis Update!

Salam, well just to let you know, I did receive a refund from eshakti.com so I was pleased the return went hassle-free even though the clothes were custom made (Hmmm...I wonder what they will do with my custom-made shirts..?).

Also on a happy note, SHUKR sent me a gift certificate to make up for that skirt that I ordered that was way too long. Happy to report that it has been hemmed, and I am in fact frolicking in it today!

All is right in my wardrobe once again :)

My eshakt.com Order Arrives!...and Leaves Again.

BREAKING NEWS! My order from eshakti.com finally arrived. I've been waiting to report to you all about my experience with them because I know how stressing it can be to order from an online store for the first time.

I wish it could be better news, but the fact is that I'm returning probably everything I ordered :( I say this with a heavy heart, because the quality is actually very nice, and every item was SO CLOSE to being great, but none of them fit quite right (even though I entered my custom body measurements!).

The lengths of all the shirts were fine. The fabrics were nice and light - would have been perfect for the hot summer days ahead...(except fabrics without prints did end up looking a bit like pajama tops)...The REAL problem, strangely enough was the sleeve lengths.

Of course, this was practically the only body measurement not required, and they got it wrong on two of the shirts. This is strange to me, because I've never bought or ordered any shirt where the sleeves were just an inch too short. Arm lengths seem to be pretty standard. I'm certain I entered in full length sleeves when ordering, and you can tell that they attempted to make them long sleeves but came up about an inch too short. ARGH. (And no, i don't have freakishly long chimpanzee arms.)

Another shirt I ordered I had selected the sleeve length option "as shown" because they looked like long sleeves to me in the photo shown, but apparently they were not, because the one I received was a half sleeve.

And yet another shirt I ordered as full "Bell sleeves", and they made it a 3/4 sleeve! I have my order receipt and I'm certain of this.

I'm so NOT happy right now. After a month of waiting, I have to return it all. So, that's about $50 worth of customs and shipping fees out of my pocket, but inshallah it will be worth it if I pass this info along to you guys.

I'm quite sad because I thought I may have discovered a great store but I won't order from them again.

As if this wasn't annoying enough, for the first time ever, a size M skirt I ordered from SHUKR came in about 6 inches longer than all my other size M Shukr skirts and I have to now pay to get it hemmed.

What's up with that?? Just another day in the life of a Muslim gal trying to find clothes online!

Ma Salam!
