Converting the Short Dress & Beating the Bland Blues

Well, you can't convert the short dress wearer, but you can convert the dress - into a trendy long shirt! There's countless short, loose dresses available in stores now that fall just above the knee...perfect length for a modest muslim top with style. And check out the patterns that are coming out this season, everything from sweet florals to outright psychedelic. If you're bored with bland, you'll find fun or sophisticated patterns that'll spice up your wardrobe, right in your local mall! These are just a few photos from my last trip.

After searching long and hard I found these long-sleeved dresses, but you're more likely to find 3/4 sleeve or sleeveless versions now. No problem; I've been buying sleeveless dresses and wearing them with waist-length linen (cooler than polyester) blazors to create a chic layered look (will add these photos soon).
Beat the bland blues with patterns this spring!

Black & White Trend: Modest Make-Over

Here's my modest make-over for the black & white trend. And I'm sure my version will have you in a better mood than the model below! I actually bought the exact halter dress below because it is so georgeous in person. TIP: Check out the summer halter dresses available in stores this spring, because halter dresses tend to be the longest dresses available at the mall. Wear a linen blazer or cotton long-sleeved top over it and it's very modest! The bonus is that once you get home you can just take off the top and look sizzl'n for your husband :)

BEFORE------------------>AFTER

(halter dress: H&M $79 Hijab: hijablady.com $7.99)

  • I think a black or white hijab would look too repetitive for this outfit so try yellow, green, or orange (all in style this season too), to add some punch! Alternatively, you could go with a white or black hijab and punch it up with a colorful purse or shoes.

  • Try a longer or less fitted blazer to add extra modesty to this outfit.
